The Outdoor Power Equipment (OPE) industry is poised for a major upgrade in technology. Delta Systems, a leading manufacturer of electronic controls, displays and switches, is breaking new ground by introducing a first of its kind wireless connectivity platform called Delta Blue Technology™.

Streetsboro, OH (PRWEB) March 17, 2015

Delta Blue Technology uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology to wirelessly connect smart devices directly to any equipment that utilizes specific Delta Systems modules and controllers. The technology not only allows equipment to broadcast real-time diagnostic information, but it also provides the ability to control machine actions–like shutdown and startup–from any BLE-enabled device. Currently, Delta Blue Technology can be added to most of the company’s electronic product offerings.

Delta Blue Technology is already making waves in the OPE industry. One of Delta System’s major customers is debuting the technology on several models this spring. “We’re excited to acknowledge that a mobile app powered by Delta Blue Technology was named as a finalist for the Bluetooth Breakthrough Awards at this year’s International CES," said Spencer Allemang, Product Marketing Engineer at Delta Systems. The app enables owners to access information about oil changes, blade maintenance, air filter replacements and track key mechanical vitals over the life of their lawn tractor or zero-turn mower.

“This technology has the power to change the OPE landscape. With uses beyond consumer-facing apps such as fleet management and generator monitoring & control, we’re bringing innovations to the OPE market that are must-haves for the next generation of consumers,” said Allemang. “By connecting products with Delta Blue Technology, manufactures can offer disruptive and expandable functionality within their existing markets,” said Advanced Technology Manager Tony Nohra.

The company is in the process of rolling out Delta Blue Technology across their entire product line. “In addition to remote diagnostics, data mining, and market intelligence, Delta Blue Technology enables a competitive advantage and smart presence in the new, connected world,” added Nohra.

Six suggestions for James Corden to make ‘The Late, Late Show’ a success

The dress rehearsal didn’t go well.

With just days to go until James Corden makes his debut as Craig Ferguson’s replacement on The Late, Late Show, test audiences at a last-minute run through were almost unanimous in their condemnation.

Predictable, unoriginal, boring, too similar to everything else –- the feedback on the format was hardly encouraging. However, the bulk of the 200-strong audience’s concern and confusion was aimed at the man on the stage, his humour and his accent.

James Corden is best known to UK audiences as the chubby, cheeky chappie that hosted the Brit Awards for several years and as one half of BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey. To the U.S., his Tony Award-winning performance in One Man, Two Guvnors and his guest spot on Doctor Who during the Matt Smith era might ring a bell or two. Read more...

New Contemporary Art + Design Wing to Open at The Corning Museum of Glass

Wing, Designed by Thomas Phifer and Partners, is World’s Largest Space Dedicated to Display of Contemporary Art in Glass

Corning, NY (PRWEB) March 18, 2015

On March 20, The Corning Museum of Glass will open the doors of its new Contemporary Art + Design Wing, the largest space in the world devoted to the display and creation of contemporary art and design in glass. The $64-million expansion, fully funded by Corning Incorporated, features a 100,000-square-foot addition, which includes a 26,000-square-foot gallery space and a 500-seat live glass demonstration facility. The new wing provides an unprecedented opportunity for visitors to see the breadth and depth of creativity by artists who have pushed the boundaries of glass as an artistic material during the past 25 years.

Designed by Thomas Phifer and Partners, the new wing provides visitors with an inspiring, day-lit environment in which to experience contemporary art and design in glass. The wing’s inaugural installations feature 117 works from the Museum’s permanent collection. More than 30 of these works have never before been on public display.

“The opening of the Contemporary Art + Design Wing marks an important milestone in the Museum’s history,” said Karol Wight, president and executive director of The Corning Museum of Glass. “The premier institution dedicated to glass, we are now the leader in the display and interpretation of contemporary art and design in glass. We look forward to welcoming our visitors from all over the world and introducing them to this incredible new chapter in the history of glass, which is told throughout the rest of our campus.”

Contemporary Art + Design Galleries
The new, 26,000-square-foot gallery building is devoted to contemporary art and design in glass from 1990 until the present. The building’s five galleries of varying sizes contain diverse works, which are thematically curated, and the display also extends into the porch—a space that wraps around the entirety of the galleries. Works on view include many never-before-seen pieces from the Museum’s permanent collection, including large-scale sculptures, installations, glass “paintings,” and vessels. Artists who are well-known for their work in glass are on display, such as Dale Chihuly, Roni Horn, Karen LaMonte, Josiah McElheny, Beth Lipman, Liza Lou, and Klaus Moje, as are artists less known for their work in glass like Robert Rauschenberg, Tony Cragg, and Kiki Smith. A gallery entirely devoted to design in glass from the past 25 years features works by internationally recognized artists and designers James Carpenter, Christophe Côme, Dan Dailey, Studio Job, Tejo Remy, and Stephen Burks.

“With the opening of the new wing, we are able to display and interpret contemporary art and design in glass in the same elegant and thoughtful way in which it is being produced,” said Tina Oldknow, senior curator of modern and contemporary glass. “Today’s artists are using glass in previously unimagined ways. They are innovators of new approaches, concepts, and techniques that push the known boundaries of the material—perhaps, most noticeably, of scale. These large sculptures and installations demanded a monumental space in which to be experienced.”

One of the new galleries is solely dedicated to large-scale installations or special temporary projects. The inaugural installation is one of the Museum’s most recent acquisitions, Constellation (1996), by Kiki Smith. The room-sized work, a meditation on the infinity of space and the desire to understand it, features 26 hot-sculpted glass animals of various sizes, representing different star patterns, designed by Smith and produced by the Venetian maestro Pino Signoretto. The animals cavort amidst cast glass stars and cast bronze scat on a night sky made of handmade indigo-dyed Nepal paper.

All of the large-scale sculptures and installations are surrounded by specialty glass barriers made of Corning® Gorilla® Glass. Engineered and fabricated by Corning for display decks designed by Thomas Phifer and Partners and fabricated by Kubik Maltbie, this is the first time the damage-resistant, thin, and optically pure glass—found in 2.7 billion cellphones, tablets, notebooks, and other devices—is being used for this purpose.

Building Design
Designed by Thomas Phifer and Partners, the façade of the new contemporary gallery building is constructed of large white glass panels that create a nearly seamless, softly reflective expanse. Inside, the building features a simple, white interior. The galleries are defined by massive, curvilinear concrete walls, which actually serve as the supports for the skylight roof. The porch, the area outside the galleries along the perimeter of the building, provides additional display space, and a 140-foot-long window provides views out onto the new one-acre Museum Green.

A sophisticated system of roof skylights and overhead lighting provide the optimal lighting conditions for works in glass. Four-foot tall by three-a-half-inch thick concrete beams rest on the curved gallery walls and diffuse the light as it comes through the skylights, directing the light to the floor where the glass is displayed. Electric track lighting is programmed to complement and spotlight the art by adjusting to changes in exterior natural light levels.

Amphitheater Hot Shop and Live Glass Demonstrations
The Contemporary Art + Design Wing also features a new, 500-seat Amphitheater Hot Shop dedicated to live glassblowing demonstrations. It is a state-of-the-art space with state-of-the-art equipment. Set inside the renovated Steuben Glass factory building, the new hot shop features a balcony running around the perimeter of the shop, offering visitors a 360-degree view of the glassmaking demonstrations.

The space will allow the Museum to add to its popular Hot Glass Demos, narrated demonstrations illustrating the basic properties of glass and principles of glassblowing. With the opening, the Museum is launching a series of demonstrations connecting glassmaking techniques to objects in the collection, as well as guest artist and GlassLab design sessions featuring artists and designers of all backgrounds working with glass.

The first two artists to work in the new Amphitheater Hot Shop will be American sculptor Albert Paley, who will collaborate with Museum glassmakers as part of his Specialty Glass Residency on April 15, 17, and 18; and Swedish artist and designer Bertil Vallien, who will demonstrate his signature sandcasting technique on April 21.

“This new space creates remarkable opportunities for artists and designers to explore the power and potential of glass at The Corning Museum of Glass,” said Robert Cassetti, senior director of creative services and marketing. “This is especially fitting in this historic space where master glassmakers, artists, and designers worked side-by-side for almost 60 years.”

GlassApp
The Museum has created an accessible new web app, GlassApp, for gallery interpretation, debuting in the Contemporary Art + Design Wing. The app provides a way to explore the 117 objects on display through images, artist bios, and “Current Conversations in Glass,” short videos that share behind-the-scenes insights beyond the traditional label text. Featuring members of the Museum’s staff, the videos are conversations about the works, highlighting facts about the artists or their work. Some videos reveal the intricacies of lighting and installing the objects, while others feature glassmakers talking about the techniques used to create them. A “Today at CMoG” section gives real-time updates about what is happening at the Museum, including information about special exhibitions, tour and demo times, and the café menu.

GlassApp is supported by Corning Incorporated’s ONE (TM) Wireless Platform, the first all-optical converged cellular and Wi-Fi solution, which offers virtually unlimited bandwidth to thousands of devices at once. The Corning Museum of Glass is the first museum to offer this service, allowing its hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to enjoy fast, uninterrupted service. Visitors are also encouraged to use their personal devices to share their experience through social media, and their posts are shared with other visitors on screens in the perimeter of the galleries. Benches with iPads connected to GlassApp will be available for visitors who do not have personal web-enabled devices and would like to access additional information about the works on view.

He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and is serving as a Peer for the General Services Administration. He received his Bachelor of Architecture in 1975 and his Master of Architecture in 1977, both from Clemson University.

About The Corning Museum of Glass Campus
The campus of The Corning Museum of Glass is a collection of modern glass architecture influenced by three generations of architects, each of whom designed with the goal of creating fluid spaces that incorporated glass wherever possible. In 1951, the original Corning Museum of Glass opened its doors. Wallace K. Harrison, of the architectural firm Harrison & Abramowitz, designed an L-shaped, International Style glass building. The design represented the architectural philosophy of the day, creating a light-filled space for displaying objects with similar properties. In 1976, Latvian-American architect Gunnar Birkerts explored a biomorphic—or more organic—modernist style. Birkerts described his building as both free-flowing and amorphous, similar to when glass is heated at the furnace, and crystalline and structured, as when glass is cooled. The structure curved around the original Harrison building, linking to it with light-filled, windowed ramps. In 2001, Smith-Miller + Hawkinson added another addition. Its monumental frameless glass plates are supported by a complex steel structure that allow light to pour in the building and reflect off of angled glass panes. This area was designed to showcase the unique properties of glass as a material for architecture. The strength and functionality of glass is also highlighted by the inclusion, throughout the building, of glass stairs, freestanding glass walls, and glass walkways, which demonstrate the material’s versatility.

About The Corning Museum of Glass
The Corning Museum of Glass is the foremost authority on the art, history, science, and design of glass. It is home to the world’s most important collection of glass, including the finest examples of glassmaking spanning 3,500 years. Live glassblowing demonstrations (offered at the Museum, on the road, and at sea on Celebrity Cruises) bring the material to life. Daily Make Your Own Glass experiences at the Museum enable visitors to create work in a state-of-the-art glassmaking studio. The campus in Corning includes a year-round glassmaking school, The Studio, and the Rakow Research Library, the world’s preeminent collection of materials on the art and history of glass. Located in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Country of New York State, The Museum is open daily, year-round. Kids and teens, 17 and under, receive free admission.

How Debi Mazar Stays 'Very Close' With Madonna After Years Of Fame And Friendship

$

How Debi Mazar Stays 'Very Close' With Madonna After Years Of Fame And Friendship The world has known Madonna as the Queen of Pop for decades, but few have the intimate understanding of the music icon that Debi Mazar does. The actress gave us a taste of what it's like to be best friends with one of the most famous people on the planet during a Wednesday interview with HuffPost Live.

"We are old best friends in the sense that we've been very close for a very, very long time -- like 30 years, before she even cut a record," Mazar said. "I met her when she came to New York and we became dear friends, and then she was like, 'I'm gonna do a video,' and I was like, 'I do makeup. I'll do your makeup. Cool!' And it was very much like that, and then she became a huge star."

Dating back to those days on New York's Lower East Side, Mazar has always known Madonna to be committed to health and personal fitness, she said.

"She's a professional dancer, you have to remember. So she's always danced. As long as I've known her, she's always had the bar and the mirror, stretching, doing her thing," Mazar said. "[She] always led a very clean life. Never smoked. You see these pictures of her posing [with cigarettes] -- that's just, you know, she likes to take a picture. But she's very [into] clean living."

Since Madonna's meteoric rise to fame, it's gotten harder and harder to find time for moments like the one in this photo Mazar recently posted on Instagram, from a birthday party that she and Madonna attended along with Sandra Bernhard and model Tony Ward:

#tbt My bday party that I threw @TalorNegrons home in Hollywood.I cooked for about 60ppl.Here @madonna is giving me a purse! @sandragbernhard @slypapa It was a great nite!Love finding old pictures!! #memories #LA

A photo posted by Debi Mazar (@debimazar) on Jan 29, 2015 at 1:16pm PST

"What's unfortunate is that she's so, so busy," Mazar told host Marc Lamont Hill. "Even though she's got the whole setup with the nannies and the driver and the cook, she has very little time to have a social life because she's a workaholic. So we email. We email, and we manage to get our children together, but we often don't have a chance to get together."

Mazar was happy to report that she and Madonna have set a date to squeeze in some time together in April, in between promotion for Madonna's new album "Rebel Heart" and the start of her world tour later this year.

The singer's press for "Rebel Heart" hasn't been without adversity. Mazar cited the reaction to Madonna's nasty fall at the Brit Awards and the BBC's decision to ban her single "Living for Love" as examples of an ageist society. That's something Mazar knows a little bit about, as her new TV Land comedy "Younger" explores the issue of aging.

"It is ageism, and that's what my TV show is about, really, and I just think this is a conversation [we need to have]. It's a big discussion," Mazar said.

Watch Mazar discuss Madonna in the video above, and click here for her full HuffPost Live conversation.

TopTenRealEstateDeals.com delivers the latest scoop on today's hot real estate news - celebrity, historic, famous and spectacular homes currently for sale

Pompano Beach, Florida (PRWEB) March 19, 2015

Lauren Bacall’s long-time home at The Dakota in Manhattan is for sale and featured this week at TopTenRealEstateDeals.com.

“Lauren Bacall's Dakota Apartment”

The Dakota at Central Park West in New York City is one of the most prestigious residential addresses in the world with a long history of some of the world's most powerful business, sports and movie star owners. The building’s design is a mix match of French Renaissance, German Gothic and English Victorian steep-pitched roofs, dormers, moldings, balconies, pavilions and a Dakota Indian figure watching over the main entrance. The legend is that it was named "The Dakota" because it was built in 1884 in the boondocks, far away from the most popular areas of Manhattan. It has been the home for dozens of celebrities including Leonard Bernstein, John Madden, Rosemary Clooney and Judy Garland. John Lennon and Yoko Ono moved into the building in 1973 and lived there until John was murdered outside the building's 72nd Street entry in 1980 by a deranged fan; Yoko still has a home there. The building's exterior was filmed as the home of Mia Farrow's character in “Rosemary's Baby.” Stephen Birmingham’s best-selling 1996 book, "Life at the Dakota: New York’s Most Unusual Address," chronicles the building's history and cast of the rich and famous who have lived there.

One of the most famous long-time residents of The Dakota was the sultry, contralto-voiced Lauren Bacall. She began her long career as a model doing covers for “Harper’s Bazaar” and “Vogue” before getting her first acting job at age 19 in “To Have and Have Not.” Her most famous films including “Key Largo” and “The Big Sleep” were with co-star Humphrey Bogart who she married in 1945 and stayed together until his death in 1957. Lauren’s last movie was “The Forger” in 2012 spanning a film career of 68 years. She was also a Broadway actress winning Tony Awards for “Applause” in 1970 and “Woman of the Year” in 1981 and received an Honorary Academy Award in 2009.

Lauren passed away at age 89 in 2014 at her home in The Dakota where she lived for 53 years. Her nine-room, three-bedroom, four-bath apartment with almost 100 feet facing Central Park is now for sale. The large apartment retains the 19th century Dakota features such as 13-foot ceilings, foyer fireplace, 11-foot pocket doors, wainscoting, original butler’s pantry, plaster moldings, shutter-framed windows and hardwood flooring. The 70-foot long gallery opens to the major public rooms including the library, great room, and formal dining room. There is also a Juliette balcony that opens over treetop Central Park views.

Stage and screen star Lauren Bacall’s home of 53 years in The Dakota in Manhattan is for sale, priced at $26 million. The listing agent is Rebecca Edwardson of Warburg Realty in New York City.

IT Consulting Firm McKinley Consulting and Full-Service Consulting and Search Firm Versique Merge to Create One of the Largest Single-Source Talent Acquisition Firms in the Midwest

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) March 19, 2015

March 18, 2015 — Versique today announced its merge with long-time sister-company McKinley Consulting. The firm will be known as Versique. McKinley Consulting, established in 2004, specializes in IT consulting with a focus on project management and business analysis, application development, and quality assurance. Versique is one of the largest consulting and executive search firms in the Midwest, and specializes in IT (information technology), HR (human resources), digital marketing, engineering and operations, finance and accounting, sales, CPG (consumer packaged goods), and executive retained search. The firm also has an internal digital marketing agency that specializes in strategic PPC, SEO, inbound marketing, and more.

The two companies have worked out of the same office and shared the same leadership team and core values for years. By officially merging as one company, Versique will provide its clients, consultants, and candidates with versatile and unique service offerings, including consulting and executive search services and a wide variety of well-established practice areas. Versique will retain all McKinley Consulting employees.

“Although we were operating out of the same office and had a number of the same clients, our clients knew us as two different companies,” said Tony Sorensen, president & CEO of Versique. “This merge will provide clarity in the marketplace and a greater variety of talent acquisition solutions for our clients.”

Together, the two firms have more than 175 employees in Minneapolis, more than 350 years of combined experience, and have filled more than 300 positions in Minnesota in the last year. They are expected to have revenues of $27 million in 2015.

Versique and McKinley Consulting are highly awarded, having received Top 25 Executive Search Firms and Top 25 Management Consulting Firms awards from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, as well as numerous culture-based and growth-based awards including the Minnesota Business Community Outreach award and the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal Fast 50 award.

“This is a great move for Versique and McKinley Consulting. They have long since operated as one team and they share the same high-performance standards for their clients, so it seems like a natural progression that they merge into one valuable firm, under one brand,” said Michael Mathews, CIO, Deluxe Corporation.

VERSIQUE
Versique is a single-source talent acquisition firm specializing in recruitment, both consulting and permanent placement. The Versique brand represents a powerful combination of “versatile” and “unique” as it hints at the concept of “search” in its pronunciation: ver-seek. Versique specializes in the following practice areas: information technology, human resources, digital marketing, engineering/operations, finance/accounting, sales, CPG (consumer packaged goods), and executive retained search. What Alan Cumming Likes Most About Being 50 (VIDEO)

What Alan Cumming Likes Most About Being 50 (VIDEO) It's hard to imagine someone other than Alan Cumming playing all the roles in "Macbeth," earning multiple Emmy nods for "The Good Wife" and starring in the current Broadway revival of "Cabaret," but as he tells it, he could have left fame behind 10 years ago -- and possibly never gotten the chance to take on those roles.

When Cumming sat down with the web series #OWNSHOW, he opened up about his mindset in the various decades of his life, including the time when he felt ready to walk away from public eye. That attitude stands in stark contrast with Cumming's mindset in his 30s, which is when he says he was eager to emerge as an actor and make a name for himself.

"Just before I was 30, I got divorced, and so I've had this kind of bad -- really bad -- time and breakdown," he says. "So, when I was 30, I was kind of like, 'Okay, I'm ready. I'm all sorted out now. I've made some changes.'"

During that decade, Cumming won multiple awards for his theater work, including a Tony, and starred in films alongside the likes of Tom Cruise ("Eyes Wide Shut") and Gwyneth Paltrow ("Emma"). His career was a great success, but when the actor turned 40, he began to rethink his chosen path.

"My big sad thing when I was 40 was that I was like, 'I don't want to be famous anymore,'" he admits. "That was my little flip at 40."

Cumming, of course, chose not to leave acting behind. Now 50 years old, he explains why this latest decade is truly something special.

"At 50, I just actually feel really great," he says. "It's a great age because… I'm still as active in life as I've ever been, but I also feel I have wisdom because I've had all these experiences. I really like that combo."

Sony Pictures Entertainment has closed a deal to adapt the Tony Award-winning Broadway smash “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” into a feature film, the studio said Sunday.

The hit show will be adapted by Douglas McGrath, who is also the writer of the musical’s book. The film will be produced by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, who will produce through their Playtone banner, and Paul Blake, who also produced the stage show. Sherry Kondor and Christine Russell will executive produce.

Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group president Doug Belgrad and Michael De Luca, who serves as the studio’s president of production with Hannah Minghella, made the announcement. Sony last year scored with “Annie,” a film version of the Broadway hit starring Quvenzhane Wallis and Jamie Foxx, and Disney had a holiday hit with “Into the Woods,” another Broadway adaptation.

“Theatrical audiences both on Broadway and in the West End have responded to ‘Beautiful’ not only to relive Carole King’s timeless classics, but to experience the ways they illustrate her triumphant and joyful life story,” said DeLuca. “We’re thrilled to be bringing this inspiring and powerful musical to movie audiences everywhere”

Sony Pictures has obtained the rights to use King’s songs from Sony/ATV, as well as rights from Carole King, Gerry Goffin, Cynthia Weil, and Barry Mann, the subjects of the show. The stage version features iconic Goffin/King songs such as “The Locomotion,” “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” as well as King’s solo work, “So Far Away,” “I Feel the Earth Move,” and “You’ve Got a Friend.”

“Beautiful” will launch a national U.S. tour in September, and has recently successfully opened on the West End, where it has been nominated for eight Olivier Awards.

How Nick Jonas Became the Beyonce of His Disney Boy Band: Inside the Top Industry Career Crossovers

$
0
0
This Friday Nick Jonas  takes the stage at the iconic Forum in Los Angeles to host Nickelodeon’s “Kid’s Choice Awards,” and perhaps for the first time in a young life but long career — he’ll be a man of the people, not their schoolboy crush.

Pop culture is undeniably having its Nick Jonas moment: His soulful, honey-coated self-titled album has spawned two hits in “Chains,” just ranked at No. 13 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and “Jealous,” a Billboard Top 10 hit. He’s got a gritty cable drama in “Kingdom” and buzz-castings in Ryan Murphy’s “Scream Queens” and James Franco’s “Goat.” His ripped physique sparks an instant social media frenzy when he doles it out on Instagram.

But how did the littlest Jonas, the choir boy who politely played drums for Disney’s fever-inducing Jonas Brothers band, emerge from his siblings — and an entire category of squeaky clean hopefuls — to become a powerful, enticing force in Hollywood and music, all while retaining his legacy fans?

In essence, how did Nick Jonas become the Beyonce? TheWrap talked with top record label executives, Hollywood agents, TV showrunners and music experts to see how Nick Jonas executed the crossover, which has arguably launched him on a trajectory comparable to the likes of another former Disney Star crossover — Justin Timberlake.

*A Brief History of Jonas*

Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas, or the “Jo-Bros” as devotees branded them, hit career highs in 2007. Walked onto the Disney scene thanks to Miley Cyrus‘ own star-making vehicle “Hannah Montana,” the Jonas’ quickly became the idols of viewers 9-14, the channel’s plum demo.

Their 2007 self-titled album from Hollywood Records sold 1.8 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. A follow-up the next year, “Little Bit Longer,’ sold 1.5 million.

“It was a slightly different time, seven years ago. The industry has changed in the way people absorb and discover music,” said Shirley Halperin, news director of Billboard. “But at their height, it was a huge success. It’s someone who could sell out arenas.”

The years following “Little Bit Longer’ saw various solo efforts from each brother, who unanimously maintained the band was still very much active.

Kevin tried his hand at reality stardom with “Married to Jonas,” an E! series that tracked his foibles with wife Danielle Deleasa that ran for two seasons. Joe toured Europe with Britney Spears and released the 2011 solo disc titled “Fastlife,” which sold 18,000 copies its first week.

*Also Read:* Nick Jonas Confirms He’s No Longer a Virgin: ‘I’m an Adult in All Ways’ (Video)

Nick himself joined forces with a band under the name “Nick Jonas & The Administration.” They released the 2010 album “Who I Am,” which moved about 150,000 copies, per Billboard.

Clearly nothing had resonated as strongly as their band of brothers, so it was a no-brainer when plans came together to mount a national tour in 2013. A pivotal moment came just two days before the opening date, an October 11, 2013 show in Pennsylvania — they called the whole thing off.

“There is a deep rift within the band,” a spokesman for the brothers said at the time. “There was a big a disagreement over their music direction.”

Michael Buckner/Getty Images for Vanity Fair

*A Game-Changing Breakfast  *

“As soon as the boys decided to separate, in the spring of last year, Nick and I had breakfast the next morning and had a musical discussion that went into the night,” said David Massey, President of Island Records, who had signed Nick as a solo artist at 10 years old and kept close ties to the family after they went to Hollywood Records.

“He had a clear vision, and it was an immediate decision what we would do,” Massey said. They, essentially, were forming “Nick Jonas,” a fully-realized contemporary album with interdisciplinary influences.

*Also Read:* Inside the ‘Blurred Lines’ Trial: Marvin Gaye’s Son and His Attorney Reveal Details Behind $7.4 Million Verdict

“The project he wanted was something with soul, a rhythmic feeling that was coming away from pop-rock and really maximizing his voice,” Massey said.

“He coming away from the purity ring and coming into the young man he’d become.,” Massey said, referencing the famous rings the Jonas Brothers wore in deference to their chastity.

Nick was shedding old skin, and the world was about to see a lot more of his new one.

*Puffing His Chest*

The current incarnation of Nick Jonas arrived in July 2013, thanks to a harmless Instagram photo Nick shared with the goal of promoting his healthy lifestyle while living with diabetes.

“I never do this but… Healthy living and fitness update. Post workout picture. #diabeticinshape #2.0,” he wrote on a picture of an impressively defined chest and biceps.

Worldwide press covered the photo, completely skirting the diabetes angle and focusing on his physique. Jonas wouldn’t be the first guy in Hollywood who’s killer body helped propelled the success.

Take Taylor Lautner in the “Twilight” franchise, Chris Hemsworth’s undeniable likeness to the mythical Thor and, decades ago, the splash Mark Wahlberg made in Calvin Klein campaign that still resonates today.

So loudly, in fact, that Jonas himself made national news once again in October of last year, when he recreated the crotch-grabbing Wahlberg shots for Flaunt magazine.

“Nick, especially, was never uncomfortable during his purity phase and he’s not uncomfortable being who he is now,” said Rob Light, Nick’s agent, managing partner and Director of Music at CAA.

“I’m not saying other artists don’t do it differently. Some want to shock, some want to push that part of themselves away permanently. Nick’s just being him and you go for the ride,” Light said.

When asked about strategy within CAA’s walls for bringing Jonas along, Light was tight-lipped but did admit, “if there was one, early-on strategic thing we did — we really fought hard to not let him get labelled.”

Nick also took up with actress and beauty queen Olivia Culpo, compounding his image with a more adult romance. The pair present perfectly — no Twitter shade or club-going. This so-called new phase didn’t just manifest itself in abdominal muscles and good-looking couples.

It’s the DNA of the album, according to Massey.

“He wrote ‘Jealous’ in the first three weeks,” Massey said of Nick’s new album. “Compared to the other projects I’ve worked on, it was incredibly spontaneous. Then, out of nowhere, the TV show came up.”

*Fighting For the Breakout Role Departure *

In 2014, Jonas went up for the part of a young boxer in a dynastic California family, which would eventually become DirecTV’s “Kingdom.”

“I was a little hesitant to see him, not knowing him at all, just because of the nature of our show,” said Byron Balasco, creator and showruner of “Kingdom.”

“But he was just so damn good. He came in and auditioned and he was just one of them,” he said of the gritty pack of guys portrayed by the likes of Frank Grillo, Jonathan Tucker and Matt Lauria.

*Also Read:* Nick Jonas Loves the Gays and the Gays Love Him (Video)

“[There] was no trace of his other life when you saw him. He disappeared into it,” Balasco said, “he came back a couple of times for chemistry reads and quickly emerged as the best guy for the gig.”

What better metaphor than trading the purity ring for the boxing ring?

DirecTV

“He threw himself into the physical training, not just being in shape but fighting and the culture of the gym. There’s a lot of interior life going on. Nick as an actor does an incredible job of bringing a vulnerability,” Balasco said.

Jonas received positive reviews for his portrayal, and “Kingdom” was picked up for a second season — one which revealed that his lead character Nate Kulina is gay. Not only has he expressed pride over the narrative, he still holds the nearly 10 million Twitter followers he’s grown and adding a new sect of gay fans.

In the weeks before “Kingdom” premiered, Jonas appeared at several New York City gay clubs flashing his abs and sending patrons into a frenzy. Some accused Jonas of “queerbating,” or creating homoerotic tension to draw in the demographic, which holds $830 billion in spending power, according to a 2013 analysis fro Witeck Communications.

“He’s found the game he’s good at playing,” said Light. “He’s multi-talented, works hard and  is not afraid to take some risks.”

*EGOT On The Horizon? *

Jonas is poised to walk into his future with permission from the industry and the marketplace to wear as many hats as he wants.

“I think you’ll see him as a live musical attraction, back on a stage in New York, you’ll see him acting in movies and not as a pop singer who crossed over,  as someone capable of award winning roles,” said Light. “If he had his druthers, he’d be competing for an Emmy, Tony, Grammy and Oscar, and I don’t see why he couldn’t.”

On screen, “Goat” will give him an opportunity to explore atrocities in the American Fraternity system while “Scream Queens” will likely deploy him as quick-witted eye candy (name one heartthrob who hasn’t benefited from a part in a Ryan Murphy series).

The chart success of “Chains” and “Jealous” means Jonas’ attempt at soulful, sex-driven R&B passed a crucial test with consumers — not only is he convincing trying on a Justin Timberlake vibe, he’s convincing in spite of his Disney beginnings.

Through his hard work and commitment, native musical and dramatic talent, Jonas has a hold over entertainment that winds up the stuff of legends.

Like Beyonce. Or, as it turns out, like Nick Jonas.

‘Top Gear’ Host Jeremy Clarkson Fired by BBC For Assaulting Producer

After weeks of speculation, Jeremy Clarkson was officially fired by the BBC on Wednesday.

The ruling came after the “Top Gear” host was the subject of an internal investigation following an assault earlier this month when he got into a fracas with one of the show’s producers over the lack of hot food after filming.

“It is with great regret that I have told Jeremy Clarkson today that the BBC will not be renewing his contract,” BBC Director-General Tony Hall said in a statement. “It is not a decision I have taken lightly.  I have done so only after a very careful consideration of the facts and after personally meeting both Jeremy and Oisin Tymon.”

Clarkson, who is infamous for his politically incorrect remarks, spent 20 minutes verbally abusing producer Oisin Tymon, before launching a 30 second physical assault on him, reported the Telegraph.

The outburst occurred when Clarkson, 54, demanded steak and fries after a day of filming, but was told that the hotel in North Yorkshire, England, where the crew was staying, was no longer serving hot food.

The controversial host had already received a “final warning” from the BBC for using a racist slur during filming last year.

Since it first aired in the U.K. in 2002, “Top Gear” has grown from a straightforward show about cars into a global phenomena watched by 350 million viewers in 170 countries. According to the New York Times, Clarkson is paid about $1.5 million a year to present the show, making him one of the network’s most highly-paid employees.

Clarkson rose to public prominence as a presenter of the original format of “Top Gear” in 1988. From 1998 to 2000, he also hosted his own talk show, “Clarkson.” Also it first aired in 1977 as a conventional motoring magazine show, “Top Gear” was relaunched by the BBC in 2002 with hosts Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, along with Test Driver mascot, The Stig.

In October, Clarkson and his crew hit the headlines when they were forced to flee Argentina after being attacked by local residents for driving a car with the license plate H982 FLK, a suspected reference to the British victory over Argentina in the Falkland Islands war of 1982. Clarkson insisted it was a coincidence.

Other controversies that have occurred over the years include making homophobic comments, making a mock Nazi salute while talking about German cars, joking about lorry drivers murdering prostitutes, making fun of the Indian culture, and describing a Ferrari F430 as “special needs.”

Jake Gyllenhaal is attached to star in Tom Ford’s thriller “Nocturnal Animals,”while Amy Adams is in early talks to join him, multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap.

George Clooney and Grant Heslov are producing via their Smokehouse Pictures, though a representative for the company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ford and the producers are currently out to financiers, and they shouldn’t have a problem finding any now that Oscar nominees Gyllenhaal and Adams are circling the project. There are also offers out to Joaquin Phoenix and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, signaling that Ford has great ambitions for his follow-up to the critically acclaimed drama “A Single Man.”

Described as a “story within a story,” “Nocturnal Animals” would find Adams playing a woman named Susan who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband (Gyllenhaal), who’s seeking her opinion. The manuscript itself, which is titled “Nocturnal Animals,” follows a man whose family vacation turns deadly and a woman named Susan who confronts some dark truths about herself as she recalls her first marriage.

Ford wrote the script himself, based on Austin Wright’s novel “Tony and Susan,” and the famous fashion designer will also produce with the Smokehouse duo.

Gyllenhaal next stars in Antoine Fuqua’s “Southpaw,” which is expected to pack quite the punch when it hits theaters in July courtesy of the Weinstein Company. He also co-stars in Baltasar Kormakur’s “Everest,” which climbs into theaters in September. Coming off his acclaimed turn in “Nightcrawler,” Gyllenhaal recently wrapped Jean Marc Vallee’s “Demolition,” which is expected to be released in time for awards season but could be pushed to 2016 if the actor’s fall schedule proves too busy to properly promote the film. He’s represented by WME.

Adams is a five-time Oscar nominee who will soon be seen reprising her role as Lois Lane in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” She’s also preparing to start filming the sci-fi movie “Story of Your Life” at Paramount. She’s repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

Variety first reported the news about Gyllenhaal and Adams, while the Hollywood Reporter broke the news of offers to Phoenix and Taylor-Johnson, whose potential roles remain under wraps.
